Summer 2026 Homestay in Okayama (IRL)
July 20-27, 2026

Costs: RT airfare San Francisco to Narita to Haneda to Okayama and back approximately $2500. All expenses (housing, activities, food) will be provided by the vetted host families in Okayama or the City of Okayama, depending upon the activity schedule.

All of the group must travel together.
Two adult chaperones (provide their own RT airfare and hotel in Okayama)
Zoom meetings and one in-person meeting required of students before departure to prepare students about Japanese culture and expectations.

• 2023 Student Virtual Exchange
• The most recent in-person homestay was in 2019 when students from Okayama visited families in Silicon Valley.ost to
• Since the COVID pandemic lockdown in 2020, we’ve had virtual exchanges with eight students from Silicon Valley and eight students from Okayama. In one exchange – we even had students from Guam and Belgium in the exchange where Okayama has sister cities!
  
  In each virtual exchange there have been videos created by the students in their own cities, conversations and cultural exchanges between the students on exchange day, and skits and songs that were rehearsed and presented on exchange day.
