APRIL 21-23, 2017 in San Jose
The City of San Jose and the San Jose-Okayama Sister Cities organization will be playing host to a delegation of 120 people from Okayama including Mayor Masao Omori and his wife, a number of City Councilmembers from four separate political parties, 14 company presidents and officials from the Okayama Chamber of Commerce, an 18 member high school taiko team and traditional Kibigaku, Kibimai performers among many citizens, former exchange students and host families.
Activities will range from an official Welcome ceremony and flag-raising at San Jose City Hall, a visit and explanation of the Okayama Student Artwork from the 1960’s and 1970’s that was recently re-discovered to a special Cultural Exchange performance at the beautiful Hammer Theater in downtown San Jose, participation and performances in the annual Nikkei Matsuri in Japantown San Jose (celebrating their 40th year) and a Farewell Dinner at 4th Street Summit.
